We’ve had a busy and exciting month with Brandon interviewing for medical school! Brandon does great under pressure, so he seems to be enjoying the adventure!
One of the funnest and funniest parts of the process is hearing

about crazy questions that are rumored to float around interview tables. Brandon had an acquaintance get this one: “
If you were a kitchen appliance, what would you be, and why?” Apparently, the interviewee answered that he’d be a toaster, resulting in a difficult explanation. This is one situation in which you really don’t want to blurt out the first thing that pops into your head!

At his last interview, Brandon related this story to the group awaiting their turn to interview. He got a few laughs but not much credit until one of their number came back to the conference room after his turn, with the report that he had been asked the same “appliance” question.

Have a go at a few more ponderous postulations we’ve heard below. Take them seriously folks, with MCAT scores and grade point averages losing ground to queries of a rather ridiculous nature, YOU maybe ready for med school too (the best answers will be used at Brandon’s next interview):
1. If you were a breakfast cereal, what would you be and why?
2. If you were a body part what would you be and why? (who else here would be a moustache?)
3. If you could have dinner with an
y 3 people, who would they be and why?
4. If you were an appliance…

Cherrios because it's good for your heart!
2. If you were a body part what would you be and why? Love the mustache idea! But I think I would be an eye... Not for the texture but for the view!
3. If you could have dinner with any 3 people, who would they be and why? That's a hard one...The Prophet Joseph Smith, President Ronald Regan and Lucien Coallier (my grand-Pa)
They have all past on and I would love to get to know them!
4. If you were an appliance...
I would NOT be a dishwaher;) I think I'd be a Crock Pot!! Cause know matter what you give me I do something Good with it!!!!
Fun Questions! Kinda weird for an interview!! Miss you guys we need to hang out!Nancyxxx
I'm sorry, I want to be the toaster! It makes me laugh everytime I think about it! Why? couldn't give you a good answer except for the fact that it makes me laugh! Make me a toaster!
I think I would be an oven cause I love yummy smells...
Those are pretty bizarre questions!
Angie, I'm glad you have a blog now so that I can spy on you...something I've always wanted to do. :)
I hope your having fun in Costa Rica, I'm way jealous.
Angie--your baby is so stinking cute!
So apparently, I'll be interviewing for medical school soon. Except I'd say I want to be a curling iron (it counts!)
Cereal: Rice Crispies because of the Snap, Crackle and POP! Kuz it's the closest I can come to a 'snap and bend.' ("Name that movie" could be something those gosh, darn difficult medical school board members could throw in too!)
Body Part: Mnnn, mnnn... they are REALLY trying to figure out what you want your speciality to be...sneaky! The brain...kuz I've got it all together, thanks. (Pretty sure if you said a 'stache' you wanna be a plastic surgeon).
Dinner: Ang, Brandon and Calvin. Easy...bring on the tough ones!
Appliance: so...that reminds me...in RS, (our lil branch of 13 RS sistas), they were saying we should go around and say our name and some important tid bit of info. I was joking and said, "Oh, you mean, like, if we were an appliance, what would we be and why..." Next thing I know, they're nodding their heads and saying, "Yeah, GREAT idea!" I kept saying I was just kidding, but they went with it...who knew I could have been interviewing prospective medical students with such deep questions???
Back to the appliance: (my real answer in RS, heavens!!!) A Microwave, because I'm a LOT of energy all at once...look out! BAM! All warm inside. =)
Congrats, Brando on the acceptance (s). Angio _ _ _ _ _, it sure was fantastic to see you recently! I miss you terribly. Hopefully next time I won't make quite the same entrance. (Crossing my fingers)
Kaylinda =)
